How Long and How Far We’ve Come. 8 Staff Lookbacks

Overview: We are a global agency, with an average tenure of over 7 years. We asked the team to look back on their time at Caffelli and tell us the first thing that came to mind about their growth, team, or a project.

  • Alysa (Art Director): Since the pandemic, our design team has spread across the globe, staying connected each day through video calls and chats. This year, I had the wonderful opportunity to rally with the creative team in Lima, Peru, and work side-by-side with my teammates. I’ll always cherish the bold collaborations, the incredible meals, ridiculous memes, and the lasting memories we built together. A highlight for me was frantically cutting out and playtesting a board game a designer was working on for fun! With limited time and raging excitement it brought me back to the college class project days. Being in person reminded me that our bonds and our work have only grown stronger than ever.
  • Peter (Content Director): I am immensely proud of my team and colleagues at Caffelli. They have weathered storms, grown as professionals and individuals, and through it all kept strong social bonds between each other. Every company says it’s a family, but seeing how everyone here celebrates each other’s life events and supports one another through difficulties is proof that at Caffelli, it’s true.
  • Alec (Design Director): We had the privilege of doing a multi-day video shoot on a sound stage with Bill Nye years ago, a career highlight for everyone involved, I’m sure. There are many things I won’t forget about that shoot, but one memory always stands out. We brought a handful of our staff to support all aspects of the project, and some hadn’t been on a shoot like that before. At one point during production, Bill calls out to the entire crew, “Can I get an apple please?” Some of our staffers quickly ran to the craft services table and approached Bill, apple in hand. After a brief moment of silence [and a literal apple] between them, Bill smiled and said “Apple box, but thank you.” Mouths agape, our staffers looked horrified. But Bill was very understanding and they all shared a laugh about it, I’m sure never forgetting what a reference to an apple is on set. I stress on my team that there are no stupid questions, and some of the best learning comes from what not to do. Support and understanding is so important as we all learn and grow.
  • Matt M (Director of Project Management): What the heck? I’ve been here almost 8 years? What an awesome crew of people we have, is the first thing that comes to my mind. One of the highlight memories I have was travelling to Taiwan back in 2019 to coordinate a client event. We had a small team that went, and beyond just the event we created some amazing memories exploring the nooks and crannies of Taipei from night markets to hole-in-the-wall food spots. A lot of our work has changed which has kept things super interesting. And even since then, while some have moved onto other chapters in their careers, the people we have today have kept me extremely gratified in the relationships I’ve built between all of them, from making inside jokes to pulling off countless projects big and small every year.
  • Chris (Senior Writer): When I started at Caffelli, my life had been going through a lot of very powerful changes, and I was searching for a new place to call home. My Caffelli teammates quickly became that home for me, since no matter where they physically lived, I felt like I belonged. It’s why I happily act as a personality quiz and deliver everyone on the team a weekly curated assignment of who in a pop culture category they best remind me of.
  • Ryan (Senior Technical Writer): I joined Caffelli in the midst of the pandemic, and despite not meeting many of them in person for months, I’ve never felt more at home. My teammates and friends here at Caffelli have not only led me through some of my most proudest professional accomplishments, but also helped me through difficult personal times. I’m proud to say I work with some incredibly talented people whose talent is only overshadowed by their hearts. 💘
  • John (Paid Media Coordinator): I joined Caffelli at a critical juncture in my professional life, where I was looking for a place to grow and continue developing my skillset in an environment where I was passionate about my work. Not only did I find what I was looking for, I found much more. The people I’ve met along the way throughout my journey here are truly amazing individuals, making every day at work feel like an opportunity to grow as a person and connect with others. Every workplace tells you that they’re like a family— Caffelli is the only place I’ve ever seen or experienced where this is actually the truth. I genuinely feel lucky to work at Caffelli, and when I’m asked about my job I feel blessed to be able explain my circumstances and tell them how happy I am personally and professionally.
  • Mike (Assoc. Director Paid Media): I just joined the team 8 months ago, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see 8 years go by and still feel the positivity and excitement that I do today. Caffelli is filled with excellent people who produce exceptional work and I’m so proud to be a part of it. I was looking for a new agency that felt like home and in the words of David Byrne, “This must be the place!
